What to expect in Individual Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is about change.   When we see a therapist, we reveal aspects of ourselves that we normally don’t show other people.  In order for change to occur–for therapy to work,  it is essential that you feel safe, welcome, and understood.  My role as a therapist is to be attentive to your concerns and to help you understand yourself–your feelings, your thoughts, and your behavior.  This can be challenging and why the choice of therapists is so important.

I am not bound by any particular theory or technique although I have training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, Jungian Analysis, Cognitive Therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches.  My goal is to meet you where you are so I may use a variety of approaches depending on your needs.
